Impressed, amazed, and thankful for the team at Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham. My pug ate chocolate and then had a failed home vomit induction. So in we went and they saved the day and our lives! Their kindness, patience, and care are top notch. I hope I never have to see them again, and I mean that in the best way. However it is so nice to know they are there and where I will take our pets for any future emergencies. They are such a blessing!
Run as fast as you can from this Veterinary practice. My cat was operated on by a fantastic veterinarian named David Dismukes. He left the practice to open his own facility. My cat is on specialty food forever. His urinary issues will never go away. When I called to get a prescription as I need food today VSB will not discuss because Dr. Dismukes is no longer there. I tried to appeal and the receptionist was rude and extremely unhelpful. He may have been the vet who operated on Harley but the insane amount of money it cost was to VSB not him.
I brought my Pomeranian in there about two weeks ago. Sadly he was already passed. They immediately took him to the back and confirmed his death. It was just me so the ladies there comforted me to the best of their ability. They gave me a private room to spend the last few minutes with my baby. They did not rush me and told me that I could stay as long as I needed with him until I felt okay to leave. I purchased the cremation package and left him there. We didn?t know why he passed unexpectedly & they unfortunately didn?t offer autopsies and said that I would have to take him to a specialist in auburn. later that evening was informed by my personal vet that he would be able to perform an autopsy on him. He told me to go back and get him and bring him to his office the next morning. They held him for me over night and happily refunded me for the cremation since I ended up taking him to my personal vet. I?ve always been scared of Emergency vets because sadly they have the reputation of misleading for more money & not even looking at your animal until you have your pocket book open ready to pay. This was not the case at all with this clinic. They didn?t charge me a penny and showed such genuine care to me and my baby which is all that I could ask for. Thank you veterinarian specialist staff. Although it was something very difficult for me to go through you helped the process go by as peacefully as you could and that meant so much to me. ?

This used to be my go to for emergencies, until today when my husband came to pick up our dog from hospitalization, the receptionist Sam was very rude, my husband gave her the name of our pet and right off the bat we get ?you need to pay the rest right now? with a snarky tone. He then asked if she could talk to the vet tech about a preventative treatment for one of our other dogs, once again in a very snarky manner she called the dr. Immediately hung up and said ?we?ve never done that?. So now we get to the payment, he asks if we can do any other forms of payment, she lets out an exasperated sigh and with the same snarky attitude she says ?do you want to just use the card on file??. My husband is too nice and he wasn?t going to write a review or even say anything, I will. The person working at the front desk is always the first impression of any business, and I would not want someone with that much attitude being the first person I have to interact with.
