The tough love approach may not work for the weak but for those who truly care about their pets there is no better place to go than Cirby Ridge. Dr. Hurst has worked with us for years and when we make a mistake we guided, very directly, to the proper actions. I always leave here feeling we have done the best possible for our dogs. They’re the best!

They dropped us as a patient when we needed it most. All I was asking for was an explanation why we needed an echo when we had an xray. Apparently seeking to understand is unacceptable.
Our 12yr old dog with a stage 4 murmur that has been stable for 7yrs started experiencing some breathing issues. When I called Cirby Ridge said she was likely going into heart failure and to go to a pet hospital. I did so and we performed an xray where they saw she had fluid buildup and an enlarged left side of her heart. They gave us 5 days worth of diuretic for the fluid but since she was stable and happy they asked us to further treatment at our regular vet, Cirby Ridge. When I did so, I was told gruffly that they were extremely busy and might not be able to get us in for a while, to call back the hospital and get more. Upon hearing this the hospital I was sent to refilled the prescription for 3wks worth and saw it prudent to get Leela started on a heart medication immediately if Cirby and Dr. Hurst couldn’t. Cirby called me back later wanting to set up an echo. No discussion before, just right into echo and blood work. When I inquired what more we would see in the echo that we hadn’t been able to tell in the xray (the hospital seemed to have seen enough to discern a heart medication to prescribe) the vet tech on the phone got huffy and said she would ask the Dr and call me back. Then this morning I received a call saying they put my dogs medical history in the mail, to seek further treatment elsewhere. Baffling. Dr Hurst was never really great at communicating, she was quite condescending at times, but I never imagined being abandoned at what seems the beginning of the end.
Our dog is finding much relief from the meds today with spunk to spare, no thanks to Cirby Ridge.

Dr Hurst is direct and abrupt but a good veterinarian. Most of her staff though on the other hand need a lot of work. You would think there’s nepotism going on in the office because otherwise there should be a lot of people unemployed. Their customer service and hearing need to be checked. If you are looking for a vet I strongly advise you to not stop here, do not collect or pay $200 and go someplace else because your pet and you deserve much better care than they offer.
