We had an incident back home that resulted in my cat suddenly limping and meowing in pain. We took him to our (now former) vet, who did x-rays and diagnosed that his femoral head bone is fractured. They said they didn’t do the procedure there, gave us a list of hospitals and called out two that *might* do it, and sent us away
Confused and crying our eyes out, my husband began just calling about every pet hospital in and around the Sylmar area. We were getting quotes of $4,500 – $6,000, some of which only covered the surgery and not anything else.
Then we found Juan from San Fernando Pet Hospital. Juan, a surgeon tech, picked up the phone and immediately hit the ground running. He was able to secure us a surgery spot the very next morning, and was able to keep the surgery cost relatively low. For the surgery, xrays, medication, anesthesia, even an optional dental cleaning ($150 as opposed to the $800 and even $1,200 we’ve been previously quoted with at other vets), it was a grand total of just about $3,400. Still expensive, but waaaaay cheaper and more inclusive than the other places we called!
Its been three weeks now since the surery, and my cat is walking and happy and back to his normal affectionate and goofy self. Dr. Lion and his team did an amazing job with the surgery, and have been attentive and caring in the follow ups. We cannot thank enough of Juan for picking up the phone and helping us out when we were grief-stricken and panicking. This place feels like the kind of vet that is established with the mindset of helping the community, not for squeezing money out of clients. They’ll be my primary vet moving forward–I can’t thank them enough!!
Avoid this place at all cost. They lie to your face. They are disrespectful and a complete waste of time. 100% inadequate. Don’t trust them with your pet. Unsanitary conditions and aggressive behavior with female customers.
A formal complaint will be filed with the board for Dr Lian’s unethical behavior. Don’t let their low initial fee reel you in. They have little regard for your precious pet. Definitely hit and miss establishment. 0 respect for the clients they serve. Highly recommended that you shop around carefully for an honest respectful and qualified veterinary for your pets.
