If I could give the Manetto Hill Animal Hospital a 6/5, I would do it! I had a VERY BIG problem… a 90lb German Shepherd named Max who did not want his nails trimmed or his ears cleaned. I had it done by having his previous vet sedate him. Unfortunately, the last time I went to the previous vet (not Manetto Hill), the ear problem was not corrected and Max’s pain and discomfort remained. It needed to be fixed, but I soon found out it was not easy to find a vet who would sedate a dog for a "pedicure". I tried several and to be honest, they just didn’t understand my dilemma.
I happened to have been at a doctor’s office at 100 Manetto Hill Rd. (Dr. Britto if you ever need an outstanding podiatrist by the way!) when I heard barking next door. So after my appointment I walked over to the office, explained my problem to the front desk staff, and they said, "No problem!" They told me Max could be put into a "twilight" sleep (not fully awake, not fully under) which sounded wonderful to me. They scheduled me for the following day 🙂
So you know, Max can be very aggressive with other dogs and even some people. If he wasn’t so handsome and loving he would have been on his way back to the rescue folks in So. Carolina! But he is and he’s not. When I brought him in, Dr. Weiss and his assistant, Cathy, took the time to take a case history and get to know Maxy-boy. After 5 minutes Max was so comfortable with them, he just laid down on the floor. After the consult, Cathy was able to take the leash and walk Mr. Max out without me! I have never been able to do this before. I knew then I was in the right office!
Dr. Weiss explained all procedures that would be done and even gave me an estimate which I really appreciated! Two hours later Maxy was trimmed and cleaned, I picked him up and we’ve been happy ever since. So speaking as a fellow doctor, if you are looking for a professional and caring veterinarian, whose office is top notch and has great front desk staff as well (Did I forget to mention them? They were wonderful!!) then you MUST call Manetto Hill Animal Hospital and make an appointment. And it’s nice to know that Dr. Weiss is a local Syosset High School graduate! Don’t wait, call today!!!
The staff is horrible. They cut my dog during grooming. My dog is white and there was visible obvious blood on her, when I went to pick her up. Oh this is the best part they make you drop your dog off at 8 am and pickup is around 4 or whenever they remember. The grooming itself doesn’t, it cannot literally last for more than an hour, it’s a tiny dog. I’ve had a groomer at home and she’s done it under an hour but somehow Manetto hill animal hospital needs at least 8 hours for a one hour job. They literally hold the dog there all day and they get to it when they get to it. My dog was literally bleeding and they didn’t even mention it. No sorry, no band aid, nothing. The staff there is pompous and expect you to get on your knees and bow to them. They act as if they are Your customer and you have to please them. Not even the Vets want to work there, my dog has seen at least 5 different vets because they never last there. They have been overcharging me for my senior dogs medicine. They don’t care about your pet at all. These are bad people and I wouldn’t trust them with a rock. They take advantage of the love people have for their pets and try to extort any and every cent they can squeeze out of you. Mary is nice. Diane is a patient.
I am so grateful for Manetto hill hospital for helping my dog Buffy. We had an emergency which we are currently dealing with and every single member of the staff came out to help my little dog. My baby. The love of my life. I adore her and Manetto hill hospital is a place that cares about the animals. Animals first. They are our souls in a little fluffy body and they understand that. I will forever be grateful to this amazing facility for helping my dog during her emergency
