This is one of the worst vet visits I?ve ever had. The tech came in and talk to us and asked some questions take some notes. Then took our dog out of the room. We waited about 40 minutes in the exam room, the vet came back in. I guess if they did the exam in the back of the office. She just wanted to argue about the food that we?re feeding, we feed raw. We were so taken back by then whole visit, that we didn?t realize till later on the way home that we were not told anything about the exam absolutely nothing. Not sure that she even had an exam. The vet seem more interested in talking about food and other things. Won?t be going back.

Awesome vet! We switched our dog here after her old vet gave us unusable X-rays & they were worlds better. Just left with our 2 cats (also moved from the old vet) & it was very reasonably priced, and got test results very quickly while we waited. Staff were friendly and professional, location is clean and feels welcoming. We?ll be coming here from now on!

We are a military family preparing for a move to Hawaii, which entails a very strict timeline of specific tests/forms be completed in order to avoid exorbitant costs and a quarantine period of 120 days upon arrival for our dog. The biggest step is a $500 Rabies antibody test that requires the result level to be above a certain number; I had asked the vet if there was even a small chance that the result would come back too low and he’d need to have his booster early (not due for 1.5yrs), and she assured me that was not a possibility, So I mistakenly took her professional advice. The result came back too low, so now our dog has to get a booster and wait two weeks to retest- of which we are being charged the full cost of the test. From the beginning of the process I communicated with the vet about this, and told her that with every step, if there was a question about meeting the timeline I’d rather air on the side of caution and complete that requirement earlier than needed. I understand the vet’s don’t control the outcome; but now, due to the vet assuring/guaranteeing me of something she had no business assuring me- I’m out the $500 cost of the 2nd test, have to drastically adjust all of our confirmed travel plans (car shipment dates, housing, flights, household goods shipment) or pay to quarantine my dog for 4 months. This is unacceptable, and could have been avoided.

2023 update: the prices quite literally quadrupled from 6 months ago without notice, I really wish this would have been brought to my attention before my appointment. I feel like throwing up I was not expecting that. Still 5 stars for dr b and staff

2021: I had a hard time finding an exotic vet in the area but was recommended to Dr. Balderrama by a friend.

I live in Port Townsend but it was well worth the drive and I?m now considering transferring my dogs to this clinic as well!

My beardies first vet visit went really well and cost less than I expected, I felt like they were very thorough and Dr. Balderrama came out and spoke to me for quite a while (I?m sure his time ilimited so I was very grateful for this!) he genuinely seems to care about the health of pets as well as continuing his own education to stay up to date with current recommendations, again a wonderful sign.

All in all I?m so happy to have found this clinic and excited to have them on my baby?s team 🙂

    Thanks again CVAH!
