We were on a road trip when our already struggling 12 year old boxer mix became critically ill. The staff and DVM were absolutely amazing in every way. I can’t thank them enough for their compassion and professionalism. This was one of the hardest days of our lives, as we ended up having to say goodbye to our sweet girl on this day, but having the love and care from North Fork made all the difference. Dr. Chamberlin even sent a thoughtful card to us with prints of our girl’s paw and snout. We will keep these wonderful humans in our hearts forever.
North Fork Vet is the ONLY place you should send your beloved pets for outstanding care. Every single doctor, technician and team member here is an animal lover, tireless worker, and completely dedicated to the health and wellbeing of your animal.
We brought our dog Duke here after a Ferrell Gas propane truck ran over both of his rear legs, crushing his left leg in multiple places. Fearing amputation was the only clear option (and not optimal for a 90 lb St. Bernard), Vet Technician Shannon wasn?t willing to accept that fate, and worked tirelessly to find a surgeon nearby that was available, willing and able to operate. She called me in tears to share the happy news that she was able to schedule a surgeon who could operate on time. I was immediately impressed by her tenacity, dedication, passion and concern. Her love for her work and for our dog Duke was overwhelmingly apparent. Both Dr. Sheriff and Dr. Yule were absolutely incredible as well. The initial surgery went well, however, 2 weeks into Duke?s recovery, we discovered the steel plate holding his leg together had snapped clean in half. Dr. Sheriff was completely sympathetic and apologetic, and emphasized how rare an occurrence like this is, and likely the fault of the plate manufacturer. After discussing another costly surgery and the worry about additional payments, Dr. Sheriff, along with his incredible technicians Shannon and Caitlin told me not to worry about the money, they would come up with a solution. They created a GoFundMe page for Duke, raising over $5,000 towards his second surgery to replace the broken plate and his recovery costs!
Duke spent months boarded full time at North Fork, because the team was so dedicated to seeing him heal! We couldn?t believe the quality of care he was receiving. Fatefully, it was during this time of receiving 24/7 care at North Fork that Duke received another shocking blow. Caitlin noticed Duke?s stomach looked swollen. After examining more closely under x-ray, they discovered his stomach had rotated 360 degrees and they had to conduct emergency stomach surgery right away. This is somewhat common in bigger chested dogs, but when it happens, the window to correct it is narrow ? often only 2-3 hours before blood supply is choked off and the dog dies. If he hadn?t been there under their watchful care, Duke wouldn’t be alive today.
Happily, Duke is many months on in his healing now, and doing remarkably well. We joked about our shared custody with North Fork. Every time we pull up to the clinic for his weekly check-in?s, he wags his tail, so happy to be there and to see his friends.
We can?t thank the amazing team at North Fork enough ? everyone from the friendly receptionists, to the vet techs, doctors, and staff members for making us feel like family when we walk in, and for the unparalleled help and healing they offered our dog Duke. Love Dr. Shariff very compassionate caring and knowledgeable, also the tech. Laurie will go far and beyond her duties there, extremely caring and supportive of our situation with our puppy. This means alot to us to know someone truly is concerned during this particular situation. The front staff needs to be a little more friendly at times with customers some are some are not, makes a big difference when bringing your animals into the vets!!!!
You have doctor’s here that are willing to go the extra mile. Dr Bell took time to talk me through a potentially very serious problem after hrs and called again later to check on us. I cannot tell you how important this is when you feel completely lost. I left my last vet because nobody would ever get back to me. It’s different here.

I have been going to North Fork Vet and Foresthill Vet for at least 6 YEAR… although they can be swamped with clients if you call and get an appointment then I feel lucky. They have always been very loving and careful about explaining all the details. Thank you very much for being our vet we love the most 🙂 MaryAnn and the Playful Papillons 🙂
The vets are all very very kind and obviously care about their patients. Clear explanations of procedures and a willingness to hear your questions and give thoughtful answers. A stellar practice. Also the front desk staff is very helpful and pleasant. I am confident my French Bulldog is in good hands.

North Fork Vet hospital has been caring for our "kids" for over 22 years. The care and compassion they show to all pets is second to none. Whether it’s a scheduled appointment, a convenient drop off or an emergency, the staff and doctors are always calm and gracious in difficult situations.
