Scheduled an abdominal ultrasound for my cat. The week before the appointment, I called to get an estimate for the procedure. Red flag right off the bat when no one was able to give me so much as a range, much less in writing. That’s something we’ll need to determine once we see your cat, they said, which to me says, “We’ll throw you into that super uncomfortable situation where you’ve fasted your cat, packed her up, made the trek over here, your cat is in the consult room and you’ll need to make an on-the-spot decision regarding hundreds of dollars.”

This is unprofessional business practice. Every facility I’ve called since has offered me an estimate. But this is pretty typical of what I’ve heard of VCA hospitals. Good thing this wasn’t an emergency situation. Ended up cancelling and scheduling with a different, more transparent facility.

We waited for 3 and half hours. After being told, we will be seen, they came and told us they couldn’t see us. So annoying

Our dog Josie got hit by a car while we were out of town. Josie is a Malinois mix that is VERY aggressive at the vet, so being out of town when this happened was an absolute nightmare. They brought her into the back and ran tests immediately when she arrived. They also updated us on Josie?s condition while we were headed into town, and they let our friend who brought her in sit with her in a private room between tests in the beginning. When we arrived, they brought her in to see us so that she would feel safer and we could see that she was doing well. They allowed us to help get her onto the X Ray table and put her muzzle back on if she slipped out of it to take some of the stress off of her in that situation. They spoke to her and treated her with kindness and care even though she was trying to bite them, which I?ve found to be VERY rare – though fair enough I guess.

Bella, the vet tech that was working with Josie and running tests, was an angel from heaven, and took every measure to make us feel calm and supported. They are state of the art, which comes with a steeper price tag that was devastating for two 25 year olds, but Bella took so much time to explain every possible option to us and ways we could afford the emergency visit and the suggested expensive surgery there or elsewhere. When we took Josie home, she was whining and I was worried that something was wrong. I called and asked for Bella, and even though she was off her shift, she asked to be put through and explained why she might be whining, what my options were if it continued whining, and what she would do if it were her pet with kindness and patience.

If I could go back, I would not send her anywhere else. Accidents without insurance are costly, period, but knowing Josie was safe and cared for in such a terrifying moment was a godsend. They were also clear about why we were charged what we were charged, which has NOT been the case elsewhere – We?ve been to other emergency vets that were cold and the opposite of candid, and I can?t imagine that experience at any of the emergency vets we?ve visited or we called before. 10/10: your pet will be treated like a family member and will get the best possible care in an emergency here.

My experience with this place was only over the phone because they couldn’t fit us in fast enough, which I totally understand. The receptionist or nurse, I’m not sure which, was SO helpful. She took time to recommend other options I could try. Our dog needed to see an oncologist ASAP and because of her recommendation we were able to get into a place the next day. This gave us the opportunity to figure out what was wrong with our pup and give her one last amazing week. The soonest anywhere else was able to see us was two weeks, our pup would’ve already been dead before we could even see anyone. All this to say, thank you so much. Because they took the time and spoke to us with compassion and care, we were able to let our baby depart peacefully.
