This place is horrible!!! All they care about is getting their money and your pets needs come last. I would never suggest this place to anyone!!! I watched my pet suffering and die in front of me and I could hear the ladies joking outside the door about what they were going to be doing that evening… not professional or sympathetic to what was going on!

Updated review: Brought my pitbull to their new location at 1AM after she was being lethargic and wouldn’t eat. I brought her in with her favorite comfort jacket on, which is covered in hair, dirt, mud, and has been ripped and sewn so many times but they didn’t say a negative thing about it and supported having something that provided her anxiety relief. If I was them I would have taken it off before I touched her but they prioritized her wellbeing over potentially getting covered in hair and dirt. My pitty is very nervous around strangers but the whole staff was patient and accomodating. Versus getting frustrated and trying to force her to hold still or something to expedite the exam. They provided high and low estimates on what they recommended and thoroughly explained why they recommended it but what could be done alternatively. So I had a surprisingly wide variety of options to choose from and felt no pressure or judgement on how I wanted to proceed. They took great care of my baby and she left the office happy as can be! It was refreshing that both experiences I had here, 6 years and 2 locations apart, were consistent in the level of care, professionalism, and empathy.

Original review from 6 years ago: Called ahead to see if they would examine chinchillas – informed me they didn’t specialize in them but they would do what they could. I brought my chinchillas in for concern of heat stroke and got immediate care, thorough explanation of treatment options and the vet talked to the chinchillas normal doctor (dr. Bingham) to make sure they were making the right decisions. They had a temperature of 104.7 and within 2 days they were back to their normal selves. I was absolutely astonished by the amazing care we received. When you have an exotic pet people usually don’t go above and beyond for you because it requires more work. But this team did everything in their power to make sure my chinchillas were better and even called me to make sure they were feeling better!

I definitely recommend this place to anyone with pets, even exotics. I am forever grateful that they were able to save my babies, you can’t put a price on that. That being said pricing was reasonable and they offered alternative financing.

The only reason this is not a one star is because the dr and the tech that was with me were fantastic. However, the lady at registration desk last night was very rude and her bedside manner was awful. I was having to put my cat down unfortunately and she had no sympathy or care at all. She was blunt and rude and I did not appreciate it. I was literally in tears and not once did this lady try to console or comfort. She just kept telling me the cost of things and being passive with me.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Took my dog here with a broken leg. They convinced us that they needed to keep the dog overnight so they could consult with an orthopedic surgeon in the morning to see if the leg could be splinted or if it would require setting and a plate. In the morning they called us to tell us we needed to come get our dog and make our own appointment with the specialist. They only kept the dog overnight so they could rack up the bill. GVVEC has the utmost concern for their pockets and very little for your pet. I highly recommend taking your pet somewhere else!

Our 5 month old puppy was hit by a car. We called around and could only find one emergency vet to take us in. It was an emergency so no time to look at reviews to make a more informed choice. The girl told me that it would $160 to be seen. So we drove 2.5 hours to get there. I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years so I get it. Brought her in and the bill was suddenly $800 then $900 to do the basic things for being hit with a car. The vet let us know that there were no internal injuries but she had a broken leg. She was unsure if she would need a splint or surgery. She said that would keep her overnight for another $820 dollars (for 12 hours only) and they would get a consult from a surgeon when the surgeons would be available around 8 am and give us a call to let us know. The receptionist gave us a list of surgeons when we were leaving to get a hotel. I thought it was odd because they told us they were taking care of it. Was almost 1am and needed sleep. They call us in the morning to let us know that they were finding a surgeon, so we were like okay and went to breakfast. After breakfast we get a call telling us that we have to do all the work in finding a surgeon. My husband was flabbergasted because we paid all of that money because we thought it was best for a vet to call another vet for a referral. We felt that we were conned. They haven’t even treated the broken leg with anything. All they did was some unnecessary labs (I am a medical lab scientist in charge of other scientist, so I know better), xray, pain killers and they said ultrasound ( did not see results for that). We would be damned if we were going to pay another 820 dollars for another 12 hours so that we could do their job for them. The vet told us when we picked her up that he doesn’t know what the other vet told us but getting a referral could take some time. If someone in your business is telling people something, it is good practice to follow through with your promises. We were not given the services promised, I want the overnight stay reimbursed. And another thing, I see sooooooooo many horrible (understatement) reviews that I find unsettling. I keep seeing where they want you to call their management, but obviously their not helping because it keeps happening over and over again. This just leads me to believe that this emergency clinic is beyond help. Prove me wrong.
