I am so grateful to Dr. Koreyasu and her team here at Kaka’ako Pet Hospital. I had recently gotten a pupperoo and established care in a seamless manner. My kitty, who is now 7 years young, had not been in, since……. before covid! Today she had a bit of a bout and I saw they were closing in 1 hr 15!
I hesitated to call and played God for a moment with kitty’s health but of course cats let you think you have control rather than actually having it, so I ended up calling……to ask someone else what I should do, because I don’t give in that easily.
Ultimately, the KPH team member took my cat’s side, so in we went. They made time for us!! I know that was irritating as heck because it is a Saturday and I was very much the only living soul in that parking lot for a good hour before close.
Not only feeling like a POS patient, I felt like a POS parent for giving all the attention to the baby of the family. I couldn’t help but lace every statement I gave with guilt.
Dr. Koreyasu made sure I didn’t beat myself up too hard while my cat looked on in that smushed face way cats do sometimes. Just kidding..
..she was out of earshot.
The team worked well to get me what I needed, even offering to lend me a stroller and an umbrella on my walk home since I was shedding tears and being a huge baby.

Kakaako Pet Hospital showed me true love for animals. After treating my elderly dog of the last of my lifelong generation of the same bloodline visit after visit, Dr. Kimberly called me randomly to see how my dog was doing. I told her I had to put her down because she willed to die by not eating or drinking water at all for a solid 3 weeks.
Dr. Kimberly was silent over the phone for a while. She cared and cared a lot.
I’ve seen other vets before as I’ve owned dogs and cats for decades on 3 farms so that’s a lot. Lots of heartache. Still have dreams of each one.
But when Dr. Kimberly took to silence when she heard my news, I knew her heart is and always will be in the right place for anyone who awaits for the reunion across the other end of the Rainbow Bridge.
Update: My pup is a 15 year old was recently diagnosed with kidney disease and the prescription dog food is super expensive. I am extremely disappointed that the vet refuses to authorize picking up any prescriptions from anywhere but through their facility. Plus offers no discount to clients for purchasing, I know that vets get paid from the dog food companies to stock their brand. I could get the expensive prescription dog food through a subscribe and save but alas vet told me no. Reason is they pay to have it stocked and refuse to budge to allow me to save money. Once my pup crosses the rainbow bridge, I will switch vets for my other pup. Hard to find a good vet these days. My previous vet authorized the purchase of prescriptions through online sources.
I used Kakaako Pet Hospital in the past when my pups regular vet went on vacation, then he decided to retire a few years ago. I permanently switched over to Kakaako Pet Hospital and am glad I did. I have had multiple bad experiences with VCA so they were never going to be an option for me.
I am extremely satisfied with the experience, professionalism, and rapport with the entire staff starting with receptionist and ending with the Vet I recently had to take one of my pups to be looked at and they were able to fit me in same day. I was not expecting that and everything went smoothly with no problems. Other than perhaps my accidentally hanging up on the vet but that was me not them.
