Great vet Dr. Alan Hurry in Hagerstown, MD. Saw them for seven years when we lived in WV. Returned to them after having tried local vets in Silver Spring, MD area. I drive an hour and a half each way to have my dogs properly cared for after one of my dogs nearly died and had to have emergency surgery to save her life, after the Olney, MD repeatedly saw her but couldn?t figure out what to do. Jackson, practice manager at Olney, told me to find another vet because I complained to the home office about him.
Great service ?
They wouldn’t allow me to leave my at in his carrier to get his vaccinations even tho I was told by their appointment confirmation person that would be no problem. Made an effort to clear this in advance. I couldn’t be there for scheduled appt. In person because I had an appt. Next door at 1030. They told me my cat has temper issues. What? They haven’t seen him for a year or more so they me me take him home without shots and lost a customer. They are bound up in policy not customer service oriented. Losers

?All Dogs, regardless of their size/breed, should be spayed/neutered before the age of one and that doing so, for larger breeds, will not stop their growth prematurely & cause future health issues.?
?Banfield has a one size fits all policy & will not cover a dime of the expense, if you wait to spay/neuter after the age of one. That?s regardless if you enrolled your pet as a puppy & have been paying into the plan, just like everyone else, who receives this service at no additional expense.
?I assumed that Banfield would AT LEAST offer a discount, considering the circumstances, but they didn?t. It?s a bad policy & they charge more than local private vets.
?Sure, it may cost slightly more to spay/neuter a larger dog at age two vs one, but a PETS HEALTH should be their top priority. Charge extra, but don?t flat out deny coverage.
-Approximately $800 out of pocket, not including the cost of the yearly plan.
Results:
-Surgery went well for my female, no issues. -Complications for my male, likely due to the fact that I was not given the same medications, that I was for my female. Medication to keep him calm, to prevent complications. See photo of male, post surgery.
Some of the Vets are consistent & do an excellent job, for which I?m thankful for. Their front staff is kind, customer friendly.
