I recently adopted to male kittens. I took them to Gibraltar Veterinary Hospital and found that t! he vets I have seen in the past have all left…red flag! Dr. Jessica Kessler saw my 7 week old boys. She picked one up and moved him around in her hands for a moment. Then she told me that I needed to put them on flea protection. I told her I was not planning on it because they are indoor only and I did not want to add extra chemicals into their systems. I told her that I had bathed them twice, flea combed them and found zero evidence of any issues. At that very moment, she looked down at one of them and said, “Oh, I see a flea”. I asked her to comb him and show me the evidence of fleas. I could’ve made a mistake! She refused and ordered Revolutions for 3 months. I did take one month. She refused to do a fecal sample or testing for feline aids or leukemia. I have 2 adult cats, so this is crucial information to keep them safe. Both kitten had runny eyes and sneezing, for which she did nothing. She began to walk out of the exam room when I stopped her and said, “you haven’t even looked at the other kitten”. She picked him up and set him down…that was his exam. I was charged $200+ for this level of care. The office manager refused to entertain any kind of change to the bill, after hearing about the visit and the absolute lie told by her vet!
I took my boys to another vet for “real” care. NO, THEY DO NOT HAVE FLEAS! So, Dr. Kessler completely LIED to me when she said Oh, I see a flea. This new vet carefully examed both boys, prescribed antibiotics and eye ointment, reviewed and made changes to their diet, took and processed a fecal sample, took and processed a blood sample. All the things on a checklist for a new kitten visit. He spent time to discuss any and all concerns. He even was joyful to pet and play with these little guys. His last statement to me “These boys are going to be so beautiful. I can’t wait to see them full grown.”
It’s such a shame that this facility has gone in this direction. They used to be trusted and reputable.
Used them as our family vet for years. Called with an emergency this morning but they couldn’t see our pup for another week and a half.? Suppose he’ll make it that long? Disgusted with these developments at what used to be a great practice.
I have only been going to the practice for about a month. But their doctors are amazing and their staff is very friendly…

Gibraltar Veterinary Hospital is outstanding. They have an amazing team of doctors, vet technicians, groomers, kennel boarding staff, pharmacy staff, front desk staff. I have alway felt that they truly care about you and your pet. A special shout out to Maegan, who goes above a beyond for me and my family! Gibraltar Veterinary Hospital has been my vet since 2009 when I first moved to Michigan. They have taken care of several generations of my dogs since then and I’ve always been pleased with the care received by their knowledgeable and professional staff. A lot has happened over the years, including minor issues, major surgeries and illnesses, and the dreaded but inevitable euthanasia procedures. The veterinarians have changed too as people have come and gone. But the quality of care, compassion and client service have always been exceptional. I’m so grateful they are there when I need them.
I love Gibraltar Vet! Everyone there is so kind and friendly! Dr Duderstadt is the best!
