Came here to get my male mouse neutered since it was the only place in the area that did the procedure. That being said, I still live roughly an hour away, so it was a bit of a drive.
Overall, I’m very disappointed with how the hospital handled everything, and frustrated at my whole experience with them.
The original estimate I received for the procedure was $322, and confirmed multiple times with the staff that that estimate included my consultation, procedure itself, and meds. Soonest they could get me in for the consultation was a month after the estimate, which therefore rendered it inaccurate. Staff reassured me that any increase in cost would be minimal. Day of the surgery, and I dropped my boy off. Confirmed with staff that he would be one of the first to go, since I lived far away, and in the meantime stayed at a relative’s house while I waited for them to call me with updates. I waited 6 hours and they never called. I had no idea if my pet had even survived the surgery, as anything on small animals is really risky. First time I called them, they said he’s resting and the doctor was finishing up another surgery and would call me back soon. Another 2 hours went by and I called again, and was told I could come pick him up whenever.
They had sutured a cone to his skin (which I agreed to, but wasn’t aware it was not standard) to prevent him from picking at the suture in his abdomen (which I was told he wouldn’t have). That cone ended up causing him so much distress that he began self-mutilating in other ways and couldn’t eat or drink on his own, but of course the hospital was closed on weekends (surgery was done on a Friday), and I couldn’t go to my usual vet, as they were not the ones who did the procedure. Additionally, one of the sutures attached to the cone was tied off on the inside of the cone, so he ended up scratching his eyes excessively on it. Finally was able to get the cone off that following Monday, and he started doing exponentially better.
Overall, I was charged nearly $200 more than the estimate I was given (which, in fact, did NOT include meds and consultation appointment, as I was told it would), and wasn’t given any kind of guidance for aftercare. There were so many times during the first few days that I thought I was going to lose him. I’m grateful they were able to do the procedure, but it all seemed a bit unprofessional, in my opinion- especially the lack of communication. If I had known this experience was going to be this stressful, unprofessional, and expensive (over $500 to get a mouse neutered! That’s more than it cost to have my cat spayed!), I would have looked into different options.
Staff were nice, which is probably why I’m so disappointed, because I really wanted this to work out.

UPDATE: The hospital did call me back and apologized for the lack of communication. I understand they did have some emergencies around the time of my boy’s neuter, but agreed that they should have had someone call me with an update. They made sure I understood that my pet mattered too, regardless of size or species (which I appreciated), and eventually refunded me for his meds that were supposed to be covered in the estimate I was given (which I wasn’t expecting, but also greatly appreciated).
I’m looking to bring one of my really sick girls in, as it’s outside my usual vet’s realm of expertise, so hoping I have a better experience this time.

Having rabbits, I was happy to be able to find a vet that was close to home that knew how to take care of them. Dr. Peel was amazing with both of my bunnies, I was given great tips on their care, any question I had was answered and I was never once made to feel like I was being rushed or that what I wanted to know, wasn’t important. It was a very relaxed visit for my rabbits first time to the vet, both me and my rabbits, handled it well 🤣
