Dr. Kim Freeman is extraordinary. She has treated all of our pets with great care and expertise, from routine office visits, to serious illness and surgeries. We have found Dr. Freeman to be a thorough and skilled diagnostician. She effectively employs a variety of treatment modalities including conventional veterinary medicine, acupunture, herbs, chiropractic care. My family is grateful to Dr. Freeman and the staff at Gruda Vet Clinic for keeping all of our pets happy and healthy over the past decade.

They have one vet there that is very good and caring. The other not so much. As far as staff let me just say when I brought my girl is for cremation after she passed they sent a small girl to get my 70lb pup from my car and I ended up having to carry her to the cooler. On the way she yelled down the hall as I was carrying my baby ?we got a DOA here?. Absolutely no cere what so ever.

It saddens me to write this but the truth must be told. I have been taking my dogs to this clinic for years. I have always placed great emphasis on being a responsible pet owner. I deeply care about my dogs.
I have an older dog who developed a serious health condition that needed professional care. I took my dog Immediately to gruda. After the vet examined him I was told he needed to be euthanized. I was extremely distraught. He is a member of our family.
I made arrangements to euthanize him at home where he would be comforted and surrounded by family. Over the next 24 hours he began to improve.
I called the vet at Gruda to tell her of his progress. Her comment was ?I guess you?re not ready to let go.? An inappropriate comment that showed a lack of empathy. I knew in my heart my dog still had life and I had hope.
The vet prescribed medication?s and a week later I returned. Another vet examined my dog and she wanted to euthanize him immediately. My heart was broken.
While completely distraught, filled with grief I was handed a legal waiver. I was so visibly shaken I had no idea what I signed. I was never provided a copy of the waiver. I couldn?t believe the lack of insensitivity. This was forced upon me under duress and at a very difficult time. It was highly inappropriate. No one should ever have to sign a waiver under these circumstances; a complete disregard for my emotional state.
Filled with grief I asked if there was a possibility of a vet coming to my house to euthanize my dog where he could be comforted by his family? I did not expect a free service but, wanted to give my dog some dignity and love in his final moments. I asked for 30 minutes to spend with my dog. The vet absolutely refused. I pleaded to no avail. I couldn?t believe the heartlessness.
My wife and I proceeded to take our dog home. This turned out to be the best decision we made, even though we didn?t realize it at the time.
I made arrangements for another veterinarian to euthanize our dog at home. The other veterinarian made a suggestion and told us there were other veterinarians with more education and specialized experience who could possibly help. We had nothing to lose. I wondered why Gruda never mentioned this?
I then took my dog to another veterinarian clinic.
The vet was compassionate and went into great detail about our dogs condition. He gave us hope. The clinic kept our dog nearly a week and provided comprehensive treatment. They literally saved our dogs life. The vet also found a serious underlying condition Gruda missed and should have found had he been properly examined.
Nine months later my dog is doing so much better. He is happy, eating and alive and continues to thrive. Needless to say, I?m glad I listened to my heart and not the veterinarians at Gruda. It really makes me wonder how many other animals have been euthanized that may have had hope?
My dog is my constant companion and I cannot express how grateful I am he?s alive.
If I trusted Gruda my dog would have been euthanized and gone. To be treated so callus and with a complete lack of compassion made me re-evaluate my relationship with this clinic.

Update; it?s now been 9 months that have passed since I left Gruda and my dog is doing well. He is now only on one medication and eating and improving. I am so pleased with his progress. Our family and friends have seen such a change. He is energetic, happy and eating well. Not a day goes by that I?m not grateful for taking my dog to another specialist who truly cared.

This review has been edited several times, most recently 05/01/23.

Originally, I reviewed Gruda Vet and said they were “Friendly & Helpful”.

In 2022, they drug my cat back from the literal brink of death after his liver began to fail after he stopped eating (then his kidneys then everything?. Dr. McGruder and the other vets that shared his care talked to me every single day while it was touch and go. The reception staff didn’t sigh at me once when I was calling multiple times per day, panicking about changes while he came home to begin his path to recovery. The techs went out of their way to cuddle him and make sure he felt loved during the time he was in their ICU. Almost everyone was amazing.

There are no words for how grateful I am.

I doubt they are the cheapest vet I would be able to find, but since their service isn’t cut-rate, I am ok with their prices not being cut-rate either.

An unusual breed of puppy has recently (04/23) joined our family and our first call was to Gruda. They got him chipped, checked out, and squared away. They are familiar enough with the breed to talk with me about the issues I will encounter without talking down to me, believe me when I say I understand something, and are willing to drill down into the hows and whys as needed.
