Today I had an emergency with my 3 lb yorkie , he got into a fight with my bigger yorkie who did some damage to the side of his neck. UVS was amazing , as soon as I got there they rushed him to the back bandaged him up until they came to me about what needed to be done, they where absolutely amazing and I was absolutely a mess. But they made my situation better the minute I stepped in their doors. Thank you guys.

Around three years ago I brought my lab puppy in because she was involved in a biking accident. The staff was pushy, and took advantage of mine and my daughter’s frantic state of mind. They forced us to surrender our puppy, who was a service dog in training for my daughters ptsd. They would not take no for an answer and also disregarded the fact that my daughters disability caused heightened anxiety, more than the average person would experience, which as you can imagine given the circumstances, was an incredibly high level of anxiety. They treated us like our wishes and feelings were invalid and didn’t matter because they didn’t agree with them or like them. They caused my daughter to develop new triggers to her ptsd, worsening her ptsd. They manipulated us into surrendering our puppy, and lied about where she would end up. When they finally allowed us to say goodbye to her after pressuring us to sign her over, they rushed us in saying our goodbyes to her, repeatedly using the excuse “it’s time for her medication”. (They knew that we were going to be there and I believe they set her medication schedule around that so they could rush us before we changed our mind). I feel like i was coerced into signing her over, and every day since I have replayed this day in my head. My daughter who has ptsd is doing worse than ever because her puppy was unfairly taken. She has had countless panic attacks, trouble sleeping, and asks everyday why they (upstate veterinary specialties) took her. She tells me every day that all she wants is her dog back. The effect this has had on our, especially my daughters mental health is unimaginable and unacceptable. I truly believe that uvs took advantage of my frantic state to get me to relinquish my rights to my own dog, a part of our family. The cruel, uncaring and selfish behavior presented by your staff is honestly disgusting. I wish we had taken our puppy somewhere else, maybe then we would still have her and we wouldn’t have been forced into surrendering her and my daughter wouldn’t be suffering like she is now, having nightmares and being so depressed she wont get out of bed most days. We will never be able to fully heal from that experience and we will certainly never be coming back.
I have nothing but nice things to say about this place. Dr. Scanlon is absolutely amazing and such a compassionate person. My dog Bean sees her for his epilepsy and she is slow moving and makes him feel comfortable. Whenever I emailed asking questions she gets back to me the very next day. I am super picky about the care for him and I trust everyone here. It’s a long drive for me but absolutely worth it. Thank you for caring for my bean.
