Oncology nurses are a different level illiterate to the point you start to wonder if the doctors have the same IQ level

We want to say thank you to the team of doctors and staff that we had supporting us at Penn Vet. Our dog had several health issues going on and we were so impressed how the different departments communicated with each other and worked with us on the best approach for Wally. Dr Duda from Radiation Oncology explained our options to us very thoroughly, had phone conversation with us to answer our questions and helped us to make the best decisions for Wally?s treatment. We also had great support from others in oncology Dr Upton and Dr Didehvar and Stephanie Corsi who always took the time to answer all of our questions and check on Wally. Dr Soderman helped us to figure out Wally?s autoimmune issues and get his symptoms under control, when no other doctors had been able to diagnose him. We were also fortunate to get Wally into the Rehabilitation Therapy program and have Dr Molly Flaherty and Allison Kyler help him regain strength in his back legs and help to support his autoimmune disease and cancer with acupuncture. He loved going and seeing Dr ?Molly?and her team every week. All the doctors and support team were always compassionate with us and helped to support us in making hard decisions as his disease progressed. We also appreciated all the caring coordinators at the front desk and Tony who always had a smile on his face and brightened our day while helping park and check in.

This weekend we had to make the most difficult decision we?ve ever had to make. After a year of being treated for Prostate cancer and a host of autoimmune challenges, our best friend Wally fell asleep for the last time. It was a heartbreaking experience but the care and compassion we received from Dr. Nolan Chalifoux was incredible. Dr. Chalifoux explain the process slowly and thoroughly, he gave us our space when we needed space and laid next to us when we needed reassurance. Wally has been visiting PennVet for about a year and his physical therapist, internist, and the oncology team is first class, like nothing I?ve experienced in the past. I can?t say enough about this team that gave us an extra year with our baby. I?m eternally grateful!

Cannot say enough good things about Penn Vet. I felt they truly cared about my dog and were individually vested to help him feel better rather than just looking at him as a number. The ER was very quick to respond initially. And then he stayed multiple days in the hospital and had a surgery. The neurologist would personally call me 2x a day to give updates on how he was doing that day/night. I also like how the ?vet techs? seem to all be Penn students who are in residency to become veterinarians, so it seems they have more expertise than normal vet techs.
